24 September 1945
First Lieutenant Chester J. Spynieswki [sic]
7551 Dunedin Avenue
Detroit, Michigan
Dear Lieutenant Spyniewski:
I wish to express to you my very real appreciation for the important part you have played in this war.
The Nation, the Army and the Army Ground Forces share your just pride in your contributions to making our arms victorious. Without you, and others who like you unselfishly gave up civil pursuits to defend the civilization we cherish, our brilliant and complete victory could never have been achieved.
Your military organization and the friendships you have formed therein will be a source of great satisfaction to you for many years to come.
I am sure you will resume you duties as a citizen with the same loyalty, leadership and devotion that have marked your service as an officer. You go to your home with my wishers for your good fortune in the future.
Sincerely
Jacob L. Devers
