Handwritten note from Katherine Gribbs describing the summer Ethnic Festivals started by the Gribbs administration in the summer of 1970, written on Katherine Gribbs' stationery. The note reads:

The summer Ethnic Festivals on the riverfront were the idea of Mayor Gribbs and as a result millions of metropolitan Detroiters have has a magnificent time enjoying the cultural, the art and the food of many Ethnic people who have contributed so much to make Detroit the great city that it is.
We started with 3 Festivals in the summer of 1970. By 1973 the number have grown to 20.
The Ethnic Festivals are the first of their kind in the U.S. to be done over every consecutive weekend throughout the summer.
A great deal of fun is had by thousands of people downtown every weekend all summer as a result of this wonderful time when we celebrate our differences.
