Handwritten note from Katherine Gribbs describing the creation of Emergency Medical Services in the city of Detroit under the Gribbs administration, written on Katherine Gribbs' stationery. The note reads:
The Emergency Medical Service or EMS as it is known was created by the Gribbs Administration to provide life saving ambulance service throughout the city. Paramedics were specially trained to man the ambulances which have been credited with saving many lives.
The success of the EMS has made it a model throughout the country. It began in 1972.
