Letter

Typewritten letter on Wayne County-City of Detroit Employees' Goodfellow Frolic letterhead addressed from the organization's co-chairmen John H. Witherspoon and Charles F. Edgecomb, addressed to their fellow City of Detroit and Wayne County employees, introducing the new merged Goodfellows program that combines the efforts of both groups. The letter explains that the aim of the program is to raise voluntarily personal contributions, rather than general public solicitation. Donating employees "will be given an evening of the best entertainment in Detroit," while helping "some under-privileged youngster receive a pair of shoes, a dress, a doll, or a toy at Christmas." It also explains that the program is endorsed by the AFL, CIO, and the DMEA. The letter is dated, November 3, 1955. The letterhead features the Thomas May illustration "Forgotten," and lists "Every Employee," as a vice-chairman of the organization.
