Engineer's Log

One Engineers's log book for the tanker, SS WILLIAM P. COWAN, of the Standard Oil Company of Indiana. The hardcover log book has a green/gray cloth cover with black text stamped on the front that reads "Standard Oil Company, Marine Dept., Engineer's Log," and handwritten black text that reads "Oct. 5, 1959, to June 26, 1961." It contains approximately 300 white paper pages with pre-printed light blue and red lines and columns as well as black printed text for column headings. Entries have been made in handwritten blue pen text for items such as date, time, place, engine revolutions, vessel speed, miles traveled, gallons of fuel aboard, fuel consumed, and remarks.

The first log entries are for Trip No. 62 from Whiting, Indiana, to Green Bay, Wisconsin, and return to Whiting on October 5-8, 1959. The final log entries are for Trip No. 27 from Whiting, Indiana, to Escanaba, Michigan, and return to Whiting on June 23-26, 1961.
