A Pictorial History of the 32nd Division in the World War

Map showing "A Pictorial History of the 32nd Division in the World War," also known as "The Red Arrow Division" and "Les Terribles," produced in 1934 by Frank Pero, Kalamazoo, Michigan. The map shows the division beginning its journey in Waco, Texas, January 2, 1918, and then depicts their travels via the use of arrows that travel to the east coast of the United States, through the Atlantic Ocean up to Liverpool, England, across the English Channel into France, and then throughout Western Europe as various fronts, until the end of the war when the division travels back across the Atlantic and ends at Camp Grant, Illinois and Camp Custer, Michigan. At the bottom of the map, to the left, are portraits of two generals with quotes alongside the illustrations: Maj. Gen. W.G. Haan with the accompanying quote "You have just been thru perhaps the greatest battle that has ever been fought," after Juvigny, and Gen. Mangin, 10th French Army, with the accompanying quote "Oui, oui, les soldats, terrible, tres bien, tres bien." At the bottom and to the right is text containing the divisions "Record 1917-1918," reading as follows:

"6 months under fire - only 10 days in rest area.
5 fronts - 3 majors offensives.
Losses - 14,000 casualties from all causes.
Against 23 German divisions 2,153 prisoners taken.
First American troops to set foot on German soil.
Over 800 officers and men decorated by 3 governments."
