Half-folded J.L. Hudson Company Dining Rooms menu, dated July 18, 1949, bearing the painting "Capital City," by John DeMartelly on the front cover surrounded by a blue border. The painting depicts the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing and was part of the Michigan on Canvas touring exhibit put together by the J.L. Hudson Company. A passage on the back cover explains both the exhibit and the painting. Within the menu is divided into the sections "Soups and Appetizers," "Shopper's Luncheon One Dollar," "Sandwiches," "Desserts," "Fruits," "Hudson Made Ice Cream and Sundaes," and "Beverages." A note along the bottom of the menu's interior informs, "Detroit's Police Department asks everyone's help in its traffic safety program, "Watch Out For Kids."
