Half-folded J.L. Hudson Company Dining Rooms menu, dated July 20, 1949, bearing the painting "Ore Docks at Marquette," by Joe Jones on the front cover surrounded by a blue border. The painting depicts freighters at the ore docks in one of Marquette's harbors and was part of the Michigan on Canvas touring exhibit put together by the J.L. Hudson Company. A passage on the back cover explains both the exhibit and the painting. Within the menu is divided into the sections "Soups and Appetizers," "Shopper's Luncheon One Dollar," "Sandwiches," "Desserts," "Fruits," "Hudson Made Ice Cream and Sundaes," and "Beverages." A note along the bottom of the menu's interior informs, "Detroit's Police Department asks everyone's help in its traffic safety program, "Watch Out For Kids."
