Honoring Marshal Ferdinand Foch

Scans of a menu for a dinner honoring Marshal Ferdinand Foch, held at the Hotel Statler on November 7, 1921. The half-folded front cover is made of a heavy gray paper which has been printed with the basic information about the event in gold text within a shield motif against a background pattern of blue fleurs-des-lis and green stars. The inside front cover includes a half-tone print of a portrait photo of Marshal Foch in uniform. The first page notes: "We render Homage to Marshal Foch, Foremost among those who saved Civilization; The City of Detroit, The American Legion; Ils ne passeront pas." The interior pages list the program and menu and are printed in black text on yellowed paper. The interior pages also have a decorative border that is printed in a gold color. A green cord (broken) has been used to bind the cover and pages together. A large envelope printed with, "A testimonial of gratitude from the City of Detroit to one of her citizens who served in the Great War," was included as well.
