The Sanders Menu, Vol. 1, No. 16
Half-folded Sanders menu dated Wednesday, November 1, 1944. Articles and advertisements are printed on the front and back cover concerning the Community War Chest program, tin salvage, a message of thanks to people on the home front, the nutritional importance of dairy, Detroit's first gas lights along Jefferson Avenue in 1851, and employment at Sanders. A three-panel comic strip on the back cover tells the story of Sally, a teenage girl, who is asked to a dance by teenage boy Bob, thanks to the outfit she was able to buy after working at Sanders. Breakfast, luncheon, supper, and dessert items are listed within. A card offering, "Baked Beans and Link Sausage in Casserole, Roll 35¢," was paper clipped near the upper right corner of the interior.
