The Sanders Menu, Vol. 1, No. 4

Half-folded Sanders menu dated Wednesday, May 31, 1944. Articles and advertisements are printed on the front and back cover concerning Victory Gardens, Sanders ready-cooked meals, the Sanders-sponsored WWJ program "Make Mine Music," a scrap drive for rags, the early days of the company, store locations, war-time employment, and Sanders employees in the armed services. A three-panel comic strip on the back cover shows a working woman at an office receiving a call from her husband that her husband is bringing his boss to dinner. She picks up a Sanders ready-cooked meal, and after dinner her husband's boss compliments her husband, "Smart girl, your wife--and a good cook too!" Breakfast, luncheon, supper, and dessert items are listed within. A card listing "Shrimp and Vegetable Pie in Casserole, Roll 40¢," is stapled near the upper right corner of the interior.
