Truck Tracks
One copy of the newspaper, "Truck Tracks," Vol. V, No. 2, dated Wednesday, December 19, 1945. The newspaper subtitles show "Published in the Interest of the Military and Civilian Personnel of Fort Wayne, Detroit 32, Michigan" and "The World's Fastest Moving Parts Depot." The 32-page newspaper includes articles about ongoing work in the fort, history of the fort, personnel, Christmas greetings, and advertisements. Black and white photos are also shown throughout the publication. The front-page headline reads "Wayne Hallowed Ground in History of Nation" introducing a long history of the fort including WWII developments. There is a front page "Letter of Appreciation" from the commanding officer Col. John Billingsley, Jr., announcing the end of the publication as then organized. This is a retrospective edition that includes a detailed month-by-month discussion of all important activities at the fort during the war years. It also includes a "then-and-now" photo spread. Some of the people who are pictured include: Col. John D. Billingsley, Jr., Col. Ray M. Hare, Peter Schlegelmann, Col. Harry Adamson, Col. Alexander G. Stone, Eddie Peabody, and Harry Davis.
