Printed on recto: The Detroit and Howell Plank Road was first opened in August, 1849. The last gate was closed about 1906. On a recent Sunday more than seven thousand cars passed the corner where No. 3 gate stood at Redford. Inset are two tickets over the road purchased during the Civil War.
