Postcard

Postcard (1 copy). Two photographic postcards, one is colorized and entitled, "Campus Martius, Detroit, Mich." and the other, "Campus Martius, Looking North on Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Mich." is green-tined black and white. The old City Hall is on the image's left. The Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument is at the far right. The Majestic Building, with a sign reading "C.A. Shafer" near its lower level, visible only in the uncolored photo, is just left of the picture's center. A moonlight tower rises in the center of all the images, except the second colored one, where it has been removed along with a streetcar near its base. The black and white image includes the handwritten note, "I was first up on top of this building." above the Majestic Building.

Dating reflects cancellation stamp on verso of black and white card. The colorized card has a divided verso, so is likely slightly newer.
