SPARTAN

One postcard entitled "SPARTAN". The postcard features a color photographic image of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company railroad car ferry SPARTAN taken from the shore off of the starboard bow. A caption on the verso reads:

With her sister ships, the BADGER and CITY OF MIDLAND, provides year-around passenger & railway carferry service across Lake Michigan. She has 60 staterooms, can carry 520 passengers and 100 autos. Built in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. in 1952, her overall dimensions are 410' x 60' x 24'. Engined: Steam, Twin-Screw, 7,000 Horsepower, Speed 18 miles per hour. Owner - Chessie System. Home Port - Ludington, Michigan.

There is also a postmark and several other stamps dated on 1979.
