The Five Sullivan Brothers 'Missing in Action' Off the Solomons -
They Did Their Part

The poster has a red border with five blue stars at the top and shows a black and white photograph of the five Sullivan brothers (left to right: Joseph, Francis, Albert, Madison and George). They are dressed in U.S. Navy uniforms and are standing beside a ship compartment door. Small printed text along the lower edge of the poster shows "OWI Poster No. 42. Additional Copies may be obtained upon request from the division of Public Inquiries, Office of War Information, Washington, D.C." Small printed text in the lower right corner shows "U. S. Government Printing Office: 1943 - O-510254." All five brothers died aboard the USS Juneau on November 13, 1942, in the Battle of Guadalcanal.
