They Bled and Died on this Spot
World War I poster entitled: "They Bled and Died on this Spot." The poster shows a sketch of the ghost of a deceased Army soldier with outstretched arms who is hovering over the body of a dead soldier which is lying beside a smoking machine gun on a battlefield. The artist's name, "R. G. Morgan," is shown near the lower left corner of the sketch. Printed text beneath the sketch shows a Bible quote from the Gospel of John and an appeal to American citizens to buy bonds to support the war effort. Small printed text along the lower edge of the poster shows "Liberty Loan Committee, Third Federal Reserve District, Lincoln Building, Philadelphia."
