Proclamation
City of Detroit proclamation to honor the World Team Tennis League team the Detroit Loves, signed by Coleman A. Young. The text of the proclamation is as follows:
"Thousands of Detroit-area tennis enthusiasts welcome the World Team Tennis League and the Detroit Loves, coached by Jack Shaw.
Battling to bring Detroit the World Team Tennis championship are Rosemary Casals, Mary Ann Beattie, Kerry Harris, Trish Faulkner, Phillip Dent, Allan Stone, Butch Seewagen and Lenny Simpson.
The Loves' first match will be played in Cobo Arena, Thursday, May 9, 1974, with the Toronto--Buffalo Royals providing the competition.
This is the first of 22 home matches the Loves will play between May 9 and August 18, bringing to downtown Detroit new interest and excitement.
Therefore, I, Coleman A. Young, Mayor of the City of Detroit, issue this proclamation honoring the Detroit Loves and wishing them a successful season."
The gold seal of the Mayor of the City of Detroit is affixed to the bottom left. The proclamation is stored inside a blue Coleman A. Young folder and is affixed to a gold background.
