Father Gabriel Richard Day

Proclamation from Mayor Louis C. Miriani declaring December 15, 1958, Father Gabriel Richard Day. The document is affixed with a gold foil seal of the Mayor of Detroit, and signed by Miriani. The proclamation reads:

Father Gabriel Richard Day
December 15, 1958
Whereas Father Gabriel Richard was one of the early ambassadors of good will who came to use from other lands, and
Whereas Father Gabriel Richard spent a lifetime in administering to the spiritual and temporal needs of the early citizens of Detroit, and
Whereas Father Gabriel Richard initiated and promoted the dignity of work for all men, and
Whereas Father Gabriel Richard showed the courage of leadership in directing community activities, and
Whereas The land on which Father Gabriel Richard carried on the activities is sacred ground, and
Whereas This area of Father Gabriel Richard's early labors is now being rebuilt to service the needs of modern man,
Therefore, I, Louis C. Miriani, Mayor of Detroit, hereby proclaim December 15, 1958, as
Father Gabriel Richard Day
for all citizens of Detroit, in tribute to one of our City's great historical figures.
