21th Annual Firemen's Field Day Official Program

Staple-bound program for the 1943 Detroit Firemen's Fund Association Field Day held at Briggs Stadium from August 28th to the 29th. An illustration of a firefighter's helmet balanced atop the pole of a victory flag, with the caption, "Buy more War Bonds," is on the cover. Articles on "Hoodoo Block" fires 1890s and of rumors of the use of Nitrogen mustard gases by the Germans of the Fire Prevention Bureau, bombs, and the wartime Detroit Fire Department Firemen Auxiliary, and the original Fire Department's watchman's chair from city hall (1955.166.008), as well as photos of recent fires, score cards for the event's baseball games, and numerous advertisements are contained within.
