Detroit Firemen's 49th Annual Field Day

Program book for the 1971 Detroit Firemen's Fund Association Field Day held at Tiger Stadium on August 8th. A half-tone photo of the ceremonial final run of the horse-drawn apparatus of Engine Company No. 3 against a copper-colored background is on the cover. Articles on the increased demands of arson investigators to establish probably cause in cases, diversified training for plane crashes and fires on the water, the number of fires that followed a storm on June 9, 1963, and a tribute to the late commissioner Paxton Mendelssohn, as well as numerous advertisements, are contained within. A separate schedule of events printed on Detroit Firemen's Fund Association letterhead is also inside the book.
