Joe Louis Sports Arena

Program entitled "Joe Louis Sports Arena, Detroit, Michigan" and "Dedicated June 12, 1981, to the memory of Joe Louis (Barrow)." The bi-fold program is printed in blue, grey, and black ink on light tan paper. The cover page shows a small picture of Joe Louis and a larger picture of the new Joe Louis Arena on the riverfront. Interior pages show a description of the arena, additional arena facts, and a brief biography of Joe Louis.

Due to issues surrounding the timing of the broadcast of the match between Larry Holmes and Leon Spinks that evening, as well as confusion over the whereabouts of Louis' widow, Martha Louis, the dedication was postponed. A formal ceremony was finally held on October 8, 1983 when Walter A. Burrow's memorial pillar was unveiled.
