Text on Clifton

One piece of paper typed with black text titled, "Text on Clifton." The paper is referring to the Automotive Pioneer dinner during the 1946 Golden Jubilee. The text reads:

(11) -- Text on Clifton -- The Charles Clifton Automotive Award perpetuates and honors the name of a man whose association with the Automotive Indsutry from its earliest days to shortly before his death in 1928 made it aware of its role as a force for the National good. Under his leadership as President of the National Automobile Chamber of Commerce from 1904 to 1927, the now-traditional policy "What is good for the Nation is good for the automobile industry" -- was conceived and developed. President and Chariman of the board of Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Compnay, which he initially joined in 1897, it was said of Charles Clifton on his retirement as head of the N.A.C.C.: "You have exercised not merely the formalities of your office, but have been confidant, adviser, and personal friend alike of successful and struggling participants in the industry."
