Resolution

Resolution printed on a large piece of cardstock, from the Board of Trustees honoring James R. Elliott upon his retirement. The document has an ornate header consisting of the letters "FFA," surrounded by vines, and a firefighter's bugle. The resolution reads:

Detroit, Mich. May 1st 1896.

At a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Detroit Firemen's Fund Association, held April 9th 1896, the retiring board adopted the following set of resolutions.

Whereas, James R. Elliott has been an active member of this Board since its inception and taken great interest in the affairs of the Firemen's Fund Association and
Whereas, we the members of the Board desire to show our appreciation to him for the conspicuous service has so freely rendered, and
Whereas, the preservation of this Organization has been largely due to the wise methods he has inaugurated.
Be it therefore resolved, that we the members of the retiring Board extend to our retiring Treasurer, James R. Elliott, our sincerest thanks and heartiest commendation for his invaluable services, and
Be it further resolved, that this set of Resolutions be engrossed suitably framed, and presented to Chief James R. Elliott without compliments.
