Speech
Remarks by K.T. Keller At The Pioneers Dinner
Celebration In Connection With The Automotive
Golden Jubilee
May 31, 1946 - Masonic Temple
One piece of paper containing Kaufman Thuma Keller's speech honoring William S. Knudsen given on the occasion of the Detroit Automotive Golden Jubilee at the Pioneers Dinner at the Masonic Temple on May 31, 1946. The speech is typed in black text and reads:
Pioneers and Friends: There are a good many people in this hall tonight who went into this great industry attracted by the personalities of the men who founded it. Among them there is one who, I think, stands out in such a significant way that he should be honored here tonight. He got into this industry about ten or twelve years too late to be considered a pioneer here tonight. But he had such a "hurry-up" spirit and such a steady devotion to his work that I am sure he made as much contribution and had as much experience as anybody else here. When the time came for this industry to do its most outstanding job -- and I refer to the work it did in the last war -- he gave so fully of his time and of his energy, and spoke so persuasively to us all that I think he made a great contribution to his country, and this evening would not be complete without presenting to him -- to our citizen, worker, soldier and friend -- Bill Knudsen -- one of these awards.
"Detroit Historical Society" is stamped in black ink on the verso at the bottom edge.
