Packet including a sheet of 50 stamps commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Ojibwe seizure of Fort Michilimackinac during the Pontiac Uprising, sent by the Lacrosse-Fort Michilimackinac Bicentennial Committee along with an explanatory letter, and pre-addressed reply envelope in an envelope addressed to Henry D. Brown of the Detroit Historical Society. The letter urges the recipient to use the stamps for all correspondence to raise awareness of events planned for the Memorial Day weekend of May 30th to June 2nd, 1963, during which "[Mackinaw] Straits area communities have arranged a full four day observance, including historical features and exhibits spectator sports and contests; games of modern lacrosse; square dancing and a reenactment of the massacre." The stamps are printed with the event's logo, a crossed tomahawk and crosse over an image of a fort flying both American and Canadian flags.
