Sunday supplement to the March 10, 1963 edition of the Detroit News featuring the cover story, "The Fireman in the White Hat." Chief Glenn E. Thom, and Deputy Chief Charles J. Quinlan are pictured on the cover wearing coats and helmets beside Engine No. 1. The story contains portrait photos of all of Detroit's fire chiefs from 1865 to 1962. The supplement also contains stories and photos of a folk music performance at The New Retort, geese and deer at Kensington Park, a local aerial photographer, pigeons in New Times Square, the Infant Services Group, the 1889 Detroit International Exposition and Fair, the Pontiac Mall Art Show, and dancer Irma Topper, as well as numerous advertisements.
