Abstract of Title,
Lot 142, O'Connor & Harrison's Greenlawn Subdivision

Abstract of Title prepared by the Burton Abstract and Title Company concerning "Lot 142, O'Connor & Harrison's Greenlawn Subdivision" located in Ecorse Township, Wayne County, Michigan. The subdivision is approximately bounded by Lafayette Avenue on the north, Creek Road on the east, Capitol Avenue on the south, and Electric Avenue on the west. The document package consists of approximately 45 pages of typewritten text and printed forms which trace the chain of land ownership from Pierre St. Cosme and his sons who received land from the "Chiefs of the Poutouatamis [Potawatomi] Tribe" in 1776 and also Thomas Smith who received land from the "Pottawatamies" in 1788. Thomas Smith registered his land (Claim 48) with the Land Office in Detroit in 1807. The abstract continues to follow the chain of ownership to various persons in the 1800's and early 1900's. Details of several court cases involving the land ownership are also included in the abstract. It appears that the O'Connor Corporation, Marvin Harrison Realty Company, and the Security Trust Company owned all or portions of the subdivision land in 1925. Lots 142 and 143 were purchased by Elizabeth Courtney in November, 1925. The pages are bound at the top with a pale red ribbon.
