Title, Abstract

Abstract of Title, Lot 41, Plat of Mullet Farm

Abstract of Title constructed by the Burton Abstract and Title Company concerning "Lot 41, Plat of Mullet Farm, in Northern Part of the City of Detroit, as surveyed into lots for B.B Kercheval, June 27, 1835, by John Mullet." The document shows Lots 13 to 140 between the main streets of Jefferson Avenue and Fort Gratiot Road. The documents is approximately 88 pages of typewritten text that trace the land ownership from Charles Chauvin, to Morice Moran who purchased the land from the United States of America, to other varies owners throughout the years of 1771 to 1959. In addition this, the document includes marriage contracts, part of wills concerning the land as well as details of a couple of court cases. The pages are bound at the top with a pale red ribbon. Lot 41 located on Fort Street is marked in red pen after the Title page of the document. This plot was believed to be where the Grant House stood. The cover of the Abstract of Title states "Grant House" handwritten in pen on recto.
