U-Matic
1983 Irish Ethnic Festival
U-Matic S tape containing footage shot at the 1983 Irish Festival in Hart Plaza.
The tape begins with silent footage of women--all dressed in green--cutting a sheet of pastries and posing with them at one of the stalls in the underground food court area.
The camera then shoots along the fronts of all of the stalls in the food court area before returning to the women and the pastries.
Then a vendor is featured playing a penny whistle, surrounded by Irish-themed merchandise. He wears a shirt from the House of Ireland in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Audio appears and continues for the rest of the tape beginning with the following shot--of the Renaissance Center towering in the background as taken from the bottom of the amphitheater area. The camera pans around to the crowd seated in the amphitheater.
Next, an Irish folk group performs several songs including "Whiskey in the Jar" and "Take Me Home to Mayo" in the amphitheater. Although the camera remains on the band for much of their performance, it does turn around for some more audience footage.
The video is on a 3M MBU-18S U-Matic S tape with a handwritten 3M label. The tape is housed within a black plastic latching case with a matching label on its cover.
