Tape #4
U-Matic S tape containing silent footage shot for the city's Neighborhood Shopping Days campaign in the vicinity of Mexican Village at Bagley Avenue and 18th Street.
The tape begins with a series of pans with the camera positioned in the intersection of Bagley Avenue and 18th Street. It pans back and forth from Mexican Village's sign on the west corner, along the Bagley face of Mexican Village, stopping on a view southwest along Bagley with the neighboring Algo Especial Variety Store in frame. Next a group is filmed walking across Bagley from the restaurant to a van parked on the opposite side of the street, in front of the Roberto Clemente Recreation Center. The tape ends with a close-up of the "Mexican-Town" sign hanging in front of the Algo Especial Variety Store. The sign features the image of a mariachi trumpet player standing at the foot of the Ambassador Bridge.
The video is on a 3M MBU-18 U-Matic S tape with a typewritten 3M label on its top which reads, "Neighborhood Shopping Days (B-Roll) Video Shooting, Mexican Village Restaurant and immediate vicinity." "Mural on wall" is crossed out on the label, and "Mexican Town logo" is handwritten beside it. The tape is housed in a black plastic latching case with a handwritten 3M label on its spine.
