U-Matic
African American Festival
7-14-89
U-Matic S tape containing silent footage of vendors and children at the 1989 African World Festival in Hart Plaza on July 14th.
The tape begins with shots of an artist selling paintings at his table. After a long shot of two children clad in dashikis and knit caps, the camera captures a series of shots of other vendors' tables. Their wares include textiles, masks, jewelry, sandals, purses, leather medallions, cloth dolls, and wooden sculpture.
The video is on a 3M UCA-10 U-Matic S tape with a handwritten 3M label on its top. The tape is housed within a black plastic latching case with a City of Detroit Department of Public Information Video Production label on its cover.
