Tape 5

U-Matic S tape containing b-roll footage centered around the Fisher Building, the Fox Theatre, Music Hall, Trappers Alley, the Renaissance Center, and the area surrounding the City-County Building.

The tape begins with a series of shots around and inside of the Fisher Building. These include the Fisher Theatre sign along the building's Second Avenue face, the neon window sign for Pegasus in the Fisher, a shot within the building's lobby with a Christmas tree set up across from the interior doors to the Fisher Theatre, and the exterior of the Grand Boulevard entrance.

The recording then moves to the exterior of the Fox Theatre for several close-ups of its marquee, and the "Detroit's Finest Entertainment" neon sign below.

The crew then films several Dutch angle shots of the Music Hall's neon sign.

Next, the Trappers Alley water tower and neon sign are featured, with the top of the Renaissance Center in the background. Outside of Trappers Alley, at the corner of Monroe Street and Beaubien Street, the crew also gets shots from below the skywalk leading to the Greektown People Mover station. The crew can be heard discussing framing the approaching People Mover below the arch. While they wait, the camera operator gets a shot of the neon sign for the Greek Islands Restaurant and Bar, on the east corner. They then get footage of neon "Opa" signs showing flaming saganaki in the windows along Beaubien, and of the Trappers Alley sign above the Beaubien entrance.

Following a brief shot of a Christmas-themed clown doll in a Christmas display, the crew shoots the sign for the River Bistro inside the Renaissance Center. From off camera, the crew can he heard being asked if they have Anthony Franco's permission. They also shoot a close-up of the Cafe Rio sign. Next they turn their attention to diners within the Renaissance Center. The crew gets both long and close shots of people eating, as well as shots of sample platings.

Next, from a window along the northwest face of the City-Council Building, the camera films a zoom across the top of the adjacent parking garage to the top of the Wayne County Building. From the City-Council Building, the camera also gets a view to the northwest of the National Bank of Detroit Building and of passing People Mover cars.

Finally the camera moves to the skywalk connecting the City-County Building to the Millender Center for lengthy shots of passers-by, and a pan showing a passing People Mover.

The tape ends with a brief clip from the 1989 French Ethnic Festival (contained in whole on tape 2015.008.209).

The recording is on a UCA-30s U-Matic S tape with a handwritten 3M label on its top. The tape is housed in a black plastic latching case with a handwritten City of Detroit Department of Public Information Video Production label on its cover. The case also contains a handwritten shot list:
