U-Matic tape S containing footage shot from a Detroit Fire Department fire tug of the riverfront on August 14, 1990. This tape contains footage of the riverfront from the MacArthur Bridge, downriver to the Boblo Island Detroit Dock Building. The footage is continued from tapes 2015.008.270, and 2015.008.271.
The camera crew continues downriver from the vicinity of Belle Isle. When they reach downtown, the firefighters turn the boat's hoses on so that the crew can incorporate them into the footage.
The boat then continues to the area of Riverside Park. The final shots on the tape feature the interior of the boat's cabin. During this trip, the crew gets footage of a trip under the MacArthur Bridge, one of the crew members pretending to pick his nose, the Lofts at Rivertown, Stroh River Place, Chene Park and the neighboring cement silos, the Renaissance Center, the Horace E. Dodge and Son Memorial Fountain in Hart Plaza, Joe Louis Arena, Cobo Arena, the LANSDOWNE, a zoom out from Hart Plaza to the downtown skyline, the People Mover passing along the riverfront, the Riverfront Towers Apartments during the construction of the third tower, the STAR OF DETROIT returning from downriver, the Boblo Island Detroit Dock Building, the Canadian National Railway tugboat PHYLLIS YORKE passing beneath the Ambassador Bridge, activity in the riverfront railyards beside the bridge, passing beneath the Ambassador Bridge, the STE. CLAIRE at the Detroit Boblo dock, Riverside Park, and a conversation in the firetug's cabin.
The video is on a 3M UCA 30S U-Matic S tape with a handwritten City of Detroit Department of Public Information Video Production label. The tape is housed in a black plastic latching case with a 3M label on in its cover.
