Goodfellow Sing-A-Long & Display @ New Center One/Historical Museum Display (Train) & Old Detroit
12-3-90

U-Matic S tape containing footage shot at two holiday events--the Goodfellows Sing-A-Long at New Center One, and both the Glancy Trains and Streets of Old Detroit exhibits in the Detroit Historical Museum. The holiday footage was recorded over footage of a wedding, some of which remains at the beginning and end of the tape.

Following a brief clip of a wedding from an earlier recording, footage begins from the Goodfellows Sing-A-Long held at New Center One's atrium. For much of the performance, the camera alternates between shots of the crowd members and the lead singers, however this segment also includes some shots of the S. Thomas Scarff sculpture Jennifer's Butterfly, and of the event's Santa Claus. The recorded scenes include portions of the songs "Jingle Bells," the Pointer Sisters' "Fire," the Supremes' "Stop in the Name of Love," the Moonglow's "Sincerely," the Andrew Sisters' "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," the Chordettes' "Mr. Sandman," the "Theme from New York, New York," and "All That Jazz."

Several shots follow of animatronic Christmas displays in store windows around New Center, concluding with a shot of a wreath hung above the entrance to the General Motors Building

Next the camera captures a variety of angles of the model train layout of the Detroit Historical Museum's Glancy Trains exhibit.

The camera then moves to the Streets of Old Detroit exhibit for a series of shots showing wreaths hung on the storefronts, and a Christmas tree set up in front of the toy store display's windows.

After a brief gap in the tape, the earlier recording of the wedding resumes. The couple is filmed cutting the cake and feeding each other pieces of it.

The recording is on a 3M UCA 30S U-Matic S tape with a handwritten 3M label. The tape is housed in a black plastic latching case with a handwritten City of Detroit Department of Public Information Video Production label.
