The Rest of the Roll has scenes from "You'll Love Detroit"
5:30 - 9:23:01
U-Matic tape containing silent b-roll footage from the 1984 "Happy Holidays from the City of Detroit" public service announcements (2015.008.060), featuring multiple takes of various city workers waving to the camera. The tape begins with multiple takes featuring a woman working at an office desk. She is followed by two utility workers who reel a third from a manhole at Jefferson Avenue and Woodward Avenue. Afterward, two utility workers open a manhole in Hart Plaza, then tip their helmet to the camera. The next shot features a mounted Detroit Police Department officer approaching them camera and waving, shot on a lawn to the southeast of the interchange between I-94 and I-75. In some takes the horse half-steps toward the camera. In the final series of shots, a worker waves from the cab of a Detroit Department of Public Works garbage truck.
Shots of a median household income list appear during some of the transitions between shots, presumably from whatever was previously recorded on the tape.
The video is on a MBU-18 U-Matic S tape with a typewritten City of Detroit Department of Public Information label on its top. The tape is housed within a black plastic latching clamshell case with a matching Department of Public Information label on its cover. Both labels are dated October 17, 1984.
