U-Matic
Indian/Scandinavian Fest. 4-29-88 #1
U-Matic S tape containing footage shot in Hart Plaza during Scandinavian festival and Festival of India on April 29, 1988. The footage primarily consists of close-ups and centers on foods and workers in the food court area, things on display in the Ethnic Gallery, and shots of people at the festival.
The tape begins with a series of close-ups of popcorn and candy apples being sold by a young man in a Fraser High School Ramblers varsity jacket. A series of shots follow of a man grilling various meats-lamb, kebobs, and sausages. The camera then returns to the popcorn cart before finding a plate of battered shrimp.
Three women in Indian dresses then pose for a shot.
Close-ups follow off a rice dish, barbecued ribs, various workers in food court stands, Buscemi's pizza slices, nacho chips, a man in a cowboy hat, a man in a "Recycled Teenager" hat, a young man at the Henry Yee Chinese Cuisine counter, shish-kabob, a young lady flipping her hair for the camera, and a young lady discussing Indian dishes to the camera crew over shots of the food.
The camera then moves to the Ethnic Gallery, for shots of Indian floral textiles, and Hindu sacred sculptures. The Festival of India Queen then poses with her sash and tiara in front of one of the displays. The tape ends with a close-up of a Sikh man wearing a dastaar.
The recording is on a 3M UCA-30s U-Matic S tape with a small handwritten label on its top. The tape is housed within a black plastic latching case with a matching label on its cover.
