U-Matic
International Freedom Festival 6/30/89 and Navy Ship on Riverfront
U-Matic S tape containing footage shot on and around the U.S. Navy's tank landing ship USS BOULDER while it was docked beside Hart Plaza as part of the Detroit-Windsor International Freedom Festival. The tape includes shots of the ship itself, its sailors and Marines, people in Hart Plaza, people touring the ship, a display on deck of naval patches and a diving suit, and a pan from a plane flying overhead across the deck to the Renaissance Center. The STAR OF DETROIT, the spiral-ramped ventilation tower, the Dodge Fountain, people playing chess, and the adjacent skyline are among the Hart Plaza features that the crew also shoots. At one point, the voices of the camera crew can be heard explaining that they work for the mayor's office to another an off-camera person.
The video is on a 3M UCA-30s U-Matic S tape with a handwritten 3M label on its top. The tape is housed within a black plastic latching U-Matic case with a matching label on its cover.
