Mayor C.A.Y. Media Day #2 5-13-88
Spain Band B-Day Greeting #1
Mike Illitch[sic] B-Day Greeting #2

U-Matic S tape containing a variety of footage shot during the City of Detroit's Outstate Media Day on May 13, 1988 This tape features the reporters touring Cobo Hall, portions of presentations from Cobo Hall director June Roselle and Mike Ilitch, and a video birthday greeting for Mayor Coleman A. Young from the members of the Spain Middle School band.

The tape begins with footage shot inside of Cobo Hall. A group of reporters walk through the building's halls. Some of them enter a conference room. The statue of Joe Louis is shown from above. The group rides down an escalator. Then the group is gathered in another conference room for a meal, where the Spain Middle School band performs.

After a cut, the members of the Spain Middle School band are then filmed wishing Mayor Coleman A. Young a happy birthday.

Following a brief gap in the tape, Cobo Hall director June Roselle is filmed addressing the group on the topic of a new brochure about Cobo Hall, the upcoming People Mover station, and the plans for the building's expansion. She refers to two large floorplans for the expansion which are displayed behind her, as well as a chart showing the color-coding system to differentiate the new exhibit halls.

After a cut, in a silent shot Mike Ilitch is filmed seated at one of the tables in the hall, beside another man. The camera then follows the other man as he stands up, walks to the podium, then begins addressing the audience. The recording ends during this sequence.

The recording is on a 3m MBU-18 U-Matic tape with a handwritten 3M label across its top. The tape is housed within a black plastic latching case with a matching label on its cover.
