Noel Night B-Roll
Santa and Christmas Tree Decorations at Cultural Center
Children
Art Card & Music
Dec. 1981, 18 min.

U-Matic S tape containing footage shot as b-roll for Noel Night promotional materials. The reel features a group of children with Santa and other characters filmed at the Detroit Public Library's Main Branch, audio of people singing Jingle Bells, and a title card.

The video begins with a group of children decorating a Christmas tree with Santa and several adults on the second floor of the Cass Avenue lobby of the Detroit Public Library. They sing Jingle Bells with Santa, then meet with a string of several other costumed characters including a woman dressed as a Christmas tree, a woman in a purple cloak, a person in an animal mask with tusks, and a woman in a gold dress. Santa then returns for several more shots with the children. Most of the scenes are filmed with no or very little sound.

After a brief gap in the recording, the tape then features a shot of the children and costumed characters gathered around the tree singing several rounds of "Jingle Bells." This is followed by a series of close-ups of the tree's decorations.

Finally the tape ends with a brief shot of a title card that reads, "Bring the Whole Family to the Ninth Annual Noel Night in the Cultural Center, Wed., Dec. 9, 6-9 P.M."

The video is on an 18 minute U-Matic S tape with a handwritten City of Detroit Department of Public Information Video Production label on its top. The tape is housed within a black plastic latching case with a matching label on its cover and spine.
