1985 Detroit Riverfront Ethnic Festivals
U-Matic tape containing six public service announcements promoting the Detroit Riverfront Ethnic Festivals. The tape contains three ten-second spots, a twenty-second spot, and two thirty-second spots. Among the spots are footage from the Mexican, African World, Polish, and Irish festivals highlight music, dance, and food in various combinations. All spots include the "Do It In Detroit" slogan, and are set to an instrumental version of "Be A Part of the Heart of Detroit (Do It In Detroit)."
The first ten-second spot focuses on the Mexican festival. The second ten-second spot focuses on the African World festival. The third spot is twenty seconds long and incorporates footage of the Mexican, Polish, African festivals. The two thirty-second spots feature the Mexican, Polish, African, and Irish festivals. The final ten-second spot features the Mexican and Polish dancers.
The recording is on a 3M UCA-5 tape with a handwritten City of Detroit Department of Public Information Video Production label on its top, marked "Master." The tape is housed within a black plastic latching U-Matic case with a handwritten 3M label on its back. The case also contains an envelope and letter address to Helen Stojic of the Department of Public Information from WXON-TV20's P.S.A. director Tracey Nichol. In the letter she explains that the station has made a dub of the tape, and will air the spots two to three times a week during the month until mid-September.
