U-Matic

Tape #1, 5/29/85
Belle Isle B-Roll
0202

U-Matic S tape containing B-roll footage shot on Belle Isle on May 29, 1985. The tape opens with two women walking through a field. The next shots feature a man playing fetch with his dog using a frisbee. Next a man and woman ride bicycles along Fountain Drive with the James Scott Memorial Fountain in the background. Afterward are several shots of the downtown skyline from the northwestern edge of the island, with a pair of joggers passing in the foreground. Then the camera follows a United States Coast Guard cutter as it passes east along the Detroit River, with the riverfront extending from the Parke-Davis complex to the former site of the Uniroyal Tire plant. In the final shot, two men fish from the shore of northwestern side of Belle Isle with the MacArthur Bridge in the background. Ambient sounds, the director's instruction, and conversation between crew members can be heard on the soundtrack during the shots.

The video is on a MBU-18s U-Matic S tape, with a handwritten 3M label on the top. The tape is housed in a black U-Matic latching clamshell case, with handwritten labels on the front and side stickers. A piece of tape is labeled "0202" on the spine of the case. A handwritten shot list is included in the case:
