Eddie Fowlkes DJ set, Tommy Knocks Int., Fab 4 Int. (Atkins, May, Saunderson, Fowlkes), Spot Int.

VHS tape containing a transfer of DV camcorder footage shot at the 2002 Detroit Electronic Music Festival in Hart Plaza including performances by Eddie Fowlkes, and the Aux Men, and interviews with attendees. The tape also contains footage of an interview with Derrick May, Eddie Fowlkes, Kevin Saunderson, and Juan Atkins conducted at the Detroit Historical Museum.

The tape begins with footage of Eddie Fowlkes' Sunday afternoon D.J. performance on the main stage, shot from below. Fowlkes is accompanied by several dancing women, as well as a hand drummer.

The second portion of the tape contains an excerpt of the Monday night live performance by the Aux Men on the main stage. They cover Kraftwerk's Trans-Europe Express and It's More Fun To Compute.

In the next segment, a man interviews Tommy Knocks of Kaleidoscope Production Company about his own efforts, and his thoughts about techno.

Afterward Sulaiman Mausi interviews (from left to right) Derrick May, Eddie Fowlkes, Kevin Saunderson, and Juan Atkins in the DeRoy Conference Room of the Detroit Historical Museum. The group are prompted to discuss the concept of techno being enshrined in a museum, their awareness of their international impact, and their take on connecting to children (and older people in Fowlkes' case) through the exhibit. Juan Atkins is asked about being an entrepreneur with his record label, and May reflects on Atkins' launch of Metroplex. Saunderson talks about the satisfaction from running an independent label, and mentions having formerly worked at Domino's Pizza. Saunderson discusses the friendly rivalry between the group. The group discusses how they met, and May reflects on his role in initially introducing everyone. May specifically mentions getting into trouble while trying to help Fowlkes at a Motown Varsity Squad event at the Masonic Temple, and later hanging out with him at Roscoe's Arcade by Wayne State University. May and Atkins also discuss bonding over chess. Fowlkes discusses spiritual matters. Saunderson talks about being inspired by a "Deep Space" party thrown by May and Atkins, and eventually quitting football at Eastern Michigan University, to take D.J. classes in Ohio. A different angle of the same interview is contained on the tape 2015.012.051.

After the group interview is an interview with a festival attendee about what techno means to him and what young people can learn from it and its founders. This interview is duplicated on the tape 2015.012.050.

The tape ends with footage of a D.J. performing under a small Red Bull pavilion.

The video is on a "Premium" T-60 tape with a handwritten label on the top. The tape is housed within a clear plastic VHS case.
