Public Service Announcements
VHS tape containing a recording of a series of thirteen public service announcement spots for the secret witness program hotline to report arson. The first seven are each ten seconds in length, and the final six are each thirty seconds long. The clips incorporate footage of firefighters, actors making phone calls to report fires, quotes from actual people on the scene of fires, fire being set to photographs of houses and cars, a fire chief, and excerpts of the song "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." Each spot ends with a title card with the text, "Get Mad! Report Arson, Call 96-arson, 962-7766, Secret Witness Program." After the spots, a brief message follows where on-screen text provides the percentages of the motives of arson--revenge, 41%; fraud, 25%; pyromania, 22%; cover-up crime, 5%; and juvenile arson, 7%--over footage of fires.
The video is on a 3M T-120 broadcast tape with handwritten 3M labels on the top and side. The tape is housed within a black cardboard 3M T60 sleeve. A Kelsey Advertising Specialties, Incorporated adhesive note is adhered to the cover with the handwritten message, "Send to Bob Berg."
