Third Annual Friends of the Rouge Basketball Game
DWSD All Stars vs. Celebrity All Stars
VHS tape containing footage of the Third Annual Friends of the Rouge Benefit Basketball Game played at the Redford High School gymnasium between the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department All-Stars and the Celebrity All-Stars on March 3, 1990 shot by the Detroit Cable Commission. After a pair of title cards, the video opens with announcers Michael Giles and Rosemarie Bully discussing the Rouge River clean-up efforts undertaken by the Friends of the Rouge organization. John Mason of WJLB (and future Detroit Pistons announcer) then announces the line-ups of both teams:

Florence Anderson then sings the National Anthem. The game is covered by several cameras. Mason provides commentary and calls raffle numbers over the gymnasium's loudspeakers, while Giles and Bully comment via voice overs for the broadcast. A free throw contest is held for fans between quarters.
At half-time, the a speaker from the Office of Program Management mentions prizes from Panasonic and Pepsi, and thanks the Detroit Police Reserves and Water and Sewerage Security officers at the event, as well as the Detroit Cable Commission for the broadcast. A segment in which Lawana Newby interviews spectators and coaches about the game so far follows. The program then cuts to cover the half-time entertainment--an "acappella showdown" between two doo wop quartets. Just Us perform The Dominos' Sixty Minute Man, and The Flamingos' Buffalo Soldier, while The Fabulous Four perform The Four Top's Don't Let Him Take Your Love From Me and The Drifters' Dance With Me. The crowd's applause decides the showdown in favor of Just Us.
The game ends 86-83 in favor of the Celebrities. Rose Bully and Mike Giles conduct post game interviews with Rex Nelson, director of communications with the Detroit Pistons; Charles Williams, director of the Water Department; Mike Redford, WJBK anchor; Cliff Russell of WWJ; Harry Hairston, reporter for WKBD; Otis Milhouse of DWSD; and Paul Gross, WDIV meteorologist.
Shake Your Thang by Salt-N-Pepa and E.U. is played over both the opening and closing credits.
The video is on a T-130 tape with printed labels on the side and top. The tape is housed within a black cardboard 3M T120 sleeve.
