EMS Press Conference 8-26-90
VHS tape containing footage shot of a press conference about a public awareness campaign intended to discourage nuisance calls to Detroit's Emergency Medical Services. Detroit Fire Department Engine No. 17 is in the background, so presumably the conference is at at the station of Engine No. 17, Ladder No. 7, and Chief No. 5 6 at 100 Second Street. The assembled group consists of Steve Walker of the Southeast Michigan Hospital Council; Dr. Krishna Sawhney of the Wayne County Medical Society; Phil Gorak, representative of the Detroit Fire Department Fire Commissioner's Office; James Brooks[?], representative of the Mayor's Office; John King, director of the Emergency Medical Services; Jeff Keaton, President of the Emergency Medical Services Technicians' Union; and Young and Rubicam representatives, Phyllis Hurks and Jack Tyus[?]. The group discusses what constitutes a nuisance call, technology from Michigan Bell that aids the system, and internal changes to the operations of the services to prioritize calls by their seriousness to increase response times. The recording ends after two public service annoucements for the campaign, "Used to Death/Body" and "Used to Death/Skeleton," are screened on a television in the station.
The video is on a 3M T-30 "Broadcast" tape with handwritten 3M labels affixed to the side and top. The tape is housed within a black plastic 3M T-30 sleeve.
