Josephine Baker Coverage

VHS tape containing recordings of WJBK and WDIV news coverage of the world premiere of HBO's television movie "The Josephine Baker Story" at the Detroit Film Theatre, followed by original footage shot from the balcony of the theater of the series of introductions proceeding the screening. The news broadcasts feature Dayna Eubanks, Huel Perkins, Kathy Walsh, and Carmen Harlan. The screening is hosted by Carmen Harlan, who introduces brief speeches from HBO regional director Claude Wells, Larry Doss of the Coleman A. Young Foundation (which was the benefactor of the charity premiere), Fred Martin of the mayor's office, lead actress Lynn Whitfield, and director Brian Gibson. In her opening speech, Harlan mentions both the completed production of the Detroit-shot film "Presumed Innocent," as well as the upcoming Detroit production of "Hoffa."

The video is on a 3M T-30 tape with a handwritten 3M label on the top. The tape is housed within a black cardboard 3M T30 sleeve.
