Marvin Gaye Presentation

VHS tape containing footage shot of the First Annual Tribute to Marvin Gaye in the lobby of the Fox Theatre on April 2, 1990, which would have been the singer's 51st birthday and one day after the sixth anniversary of his death. The event is sponsered by the Motown Historical Museum and Little Caesar's. A series of addresses are given by Emmett S. Moten, Jr., the vice-president of Little Caesar's opens the ceremony; Don Davis, the board chairman of First Independence Bank; Rev. Dan Aldridge of Mayflower United Church of Christ; Myrna R. Webb, Trustee of Motown Historical Museum; William Brown, former Fox Theatre manager; Esther Gordy Edwards, president of the Motown Historical Museum; Don H. Barton, president of Barton Communications; Mayor Coleman A. Young; Albert Ward representive of Governor James Blanchard; and state representative Carolyn Cheeks. During the program a video is screened showing a montage of photos of the artist set to his songs, as well as extended segments showing his rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner at the 1983 NBA All-Star Game, and What's Going On on the Motown 25 television special. Webb reads a letter from Lionel Ritchie, Young reads a proclaimation declaring the day Marvin Gaye Day in Detroit, and Ward reads one from Blanchard declaring it such statewide.

The video is on a 3M T-60 tape with handwritten 3M labels on the top and side. The tape is housed within a black plastic 3M T60 sleeve.
