Northwestern High School Jazz Ensemble European Tour 1985

VHS tape containing the documentary, "Detroit Goes to Europe," produced by Northwestern Communicators about the Northwestern High School Jazz Ensemble tour of Europe in 1985. The video begins with the students boarding a bus to Paris which they take to the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Tour director Jessica Campbell, and several of the students provide voice-overs while footage shot from the bus plays. The voice-overs discuss the itinerary and the students' experiences. The band is then shown warming up then performing beside Lake Geneva in Montreux. After a brief segment about a visit to the Palace of Justice in Montreux, the band's ride to Strasbourg is shown. Here the students perform in a soccer stadium. Band director Ernie Rodgers appears to discuss this performance, the band's positive reception, and the challenges of funding such a program. Afterward the band perform on the illuminated dance floor of a discotheque in Strasbourg. The video ends with further comments form the students about their experiences as the end credits play. The credits include information for donating to help continue the program.

The video is on a generic video tape with handwritten BASF labels on the top and side. The tape is housed within a black plastic VHS case.
