Ciborium

One ciborium used at St. James Lutheran Church that was located at the southwest corner of Lyndon Avenue and Southfield Road in Detroit. The ciborium is made of gold-plated silver. It has a wide rounded goblet at the top, a small lip below the top rim, and a stem that flares outward to form a wide circular base. A round knob is located at the center of the stem and a small decorative cross is affixed to the curved top surface on one side of the base. A flat, decorative cover is included which rests against the lip near the top rim of the ciborium. The cover handle consists of a small cross at the top center. Engraved lettering on the underside of the ciborium base reads "IS [International Silver]" and "E1980, Silver Soldered."
